Chicago sisters write children's book after raising funds with lemonade stand for Sky game

Chicago sisters Joy and Jade Lee turned their lemonade stand fundraiser for a Chicago Sky game into a book to inspire young entrepreneurs.

Lemons with Love is a book designed to inspire kids to believe they can turn their dreams into reality.

The backstory:

Angel Reese is more than just a basketball star—she’s an inspiration.

As she enters her second season with the Chicago Sky, she continues to motivate young fans, including Joy and Jade Lee.

Last summer, the sisters set up a lemonade stand to raise money for tickets to the Sky’s Barbie Night game against the Indiana Fever. Thanks to the support of the Chicago community and the Sky organization, their dream became a reality.

But their journey didn’t stop there.

What they're saying:

Joy and Jade turned their experience into a book, hoping to inspire other kids to chase their dreams.

"This book was also, like, made to let the kids and young entrepreneurs know that anything you want to do, you can do it," the sisters shared.

Their mother, Brittany Powell, has seen firsthand how the experience has changed them—and their community.

"It has really built their confidence as well as their friends' because even their friends, knowing people that this experience has happened to, like everybody now feels like man, maybe I can do something different. Maybe I can take a chance on an idea that I want. They're not scared. They're more willing to take a chance," said Powell.

The sisters’ story isn’t just about basketball—it’s about believing in yourself.

"They wanted to keep inspiring other children," said Powell. "They have a little brother who's five, and he's been reading this book every day."
