Cook County crash: Woman killed, man injured after car crashes into pole

A woman was killed, and a man was injured in a crash on Chicago's Southwest Side early Thursday.

What we know:

The crash occurred at about 3:10 a.m. in the 7700 block of South Cicero.

According to police, a Nissan Altima was heading north when the driver, a 41-year-old woman, lost control of the vehicle and struck a pole.

She was taken to Christ Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The passenger, a 35-year-old man, sustained minor injuries in the crash and was taken to Christ Hospital in fair condition.

No other injuries were reported.

What we don't know:

The identity of the driver has not been released. The circumstances surrounding the crash also remain under investigation.
