Cook County traffic stop: Police find loaded guns, fentanyl; man charged

An Algonquin man is behind bars after weapons and drugs were found in his vehicle during a traffic stop, according to Palatine police.

What we know:

Palatine police arrested Christopher Larson, 31, after a traffic stop near Route 53 and East Dundee Road late Wednesday night.

Officers reported finding two loaded handguns, controlled substances—including fentanyl—and drug paraphernalia in his vehicle.

Larson faces several charges, including armed violence and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, both Class X felonies. He also faces additional felony and misdemeanor charges related to drug possession.

What's next:

On Thursday, Larson appeared in Cook County court for a detention hearing. 

A judge ordered him to remain in custody until his next court appearance, scheduled for Feb. 10 in Rolling Meadows.
