Crews battle fire at Chicago Lawn building

Firefighters battled a blaze that broke out Thursday morning at a building in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood.

The fire started around 4 a.m. in an abandoned building at 2938 W. 63rd St., according to the Chicago Fire Department.

Officials said there were people inside the building when the fire broke out, but there were no reported injuries. Firefighters rescued one person from the second floor.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The CTA reported #63 buses have been temporarily rerouted in both directions via 63rd, California, 59th, Kedzie, then resume their normal route on 63rd Street.
