Candidate running to replace Dolton Mayor Tiffany Henyard will remain on ballot
DOLTON, Ill. - A candidate running to replace Dolton Mayor Tiffany Henyard received confirmation Monday that she will remain on the ballot for the upcoming spring election.
An ally of Mayor Henyard had filed an objection seeking to remove members of the "Rebuilding Dolton Party" from the mayoral ballot. However, the petition cited an outdated election law, prompting the petitioner to withdraw their filing.
The village’s electoral board unanimously accepted the withdrawal.
Casundra Hopson-Jordan, a candidate with the Rebuilding Dolton Party, expressed hope that the upcoming election will focus on the needs of Dolton residents rather than personal politics.
"At some point, I don't really think they take this serious. I think it's just, it's a big game to them, and they don't understand that the more confusion and the more back and forth that we do, no one suffers but the people of the village. You know, you hear the trustees talk, you hear the mayor talk, but I haven't heard any one of them relate to the people in the village," said Hopson-Jordan
Lee Harrison, who's running for village trustee under the "Rebuilding Dolton Party" will also remain on the ballot.
