Dolton, Thornton Township leaders call on Pritzker and others to remove Tiffany Henyard
COOK COUNTY - Local leaders and residents from Dolton and Thornton Township are urging Illinois officials to take immediate action to remove Tiffany Henyard from her roles as mayor and supervisor.
Their demand follows years of controversy and a recent physical altercation at a township meeting.
What we know:
Trustees from Dolton and Thornton Township, alongside community leaders and residents, are calling on Gov. JB Pritzker, Attorney General Kwame Raoul, and Cook County State’s Attorney Eileen O’Neill Burke to intervene and remove Henyard from office.
"This is no longer just a local issue—this is a state crisis. If the Governor, Attorney General, and State’s Attorney fail to act, they are complicit in this corruption," said a Dolton Trustee.
The demand follows a chaotic township meeting earlier this week, where a fight broke out between attendees. Witnesses say Henyard joined the altercation.

Tuesday’s incident is the latest in a series of controversies surrounding Henyard’s tenure.
Critics accuse her of using her position for personal gain while ignoring the needs of Dolton and Thornton Township residents. Allegations include misusing taxpayer funds on luxury expenses, silencing opposition, and fostering an environment of intimidation.
Concerns over Henyard’s leadership have been mounting.
Earlier this week, former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot presented findings from an investigation into Henyard’s alleged financial misconduct.

Ex-Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot has released the findings of her investigation into Dolton Mayor Tiffany Henyard.
Additionally, a Cook County judge ruled that Henyard’s name would not appear on the ballot for the upcoming Thornton Township supervisor election. She remains eligible as a write-in candidate.
What we don't know:
It remains unclear what action, if any, state officials will take in response to these demands.
While Henyard’s critics have sought her removal for years, previous efforts—including a 2022 recall vote—were overturned in court.
What's next:
Dolton and Thornton Township officials, along with residents, will hold a Zoom press conference on Friday at 3 p.m. to discuss their concerns and demand action from state leaders.
