Driver dies in South Side crash
CHICAGO - A man died after crashing his car into a light pole Monday night in Chicago's Avalon Park neighborhood.
The 31-year-old was reportedly speeding around 10 p.m. when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a light pole in the 7900 block of South Avalon Avenue, police said.
The driver was taken to Trinity Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The Cook County medical examiner's office has not yet identified him.
No other injuries were reported. Area Two detectives are investigating.
