Driver shot during botched carjacking in Logan Square; teen arrested

A 17-year-old boy was arrested after allegedly shooting a driver during an attempted carjacking Wednesday morning in the Logan Square neighborhood.

The teen gunman confronted the driver about 6:15 a.m. at a gas station in the 2300 block of North Sacramento Avenue, according to Chicago police.

After the driver resisted, the gunman fired two shots and grazed the driver once in his hand, police said. The victim was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center for treatment.

The gunman drove off in another car that had been carjacked about 5:45 a.m. that morning in the 1700 block of North Central Avenue, police said. The car crashed near California and Potomac and the teen was arrested.

No charges have been filed.
