Elmwood Park High School goes remote after social media threat

Students at Elmwood Park High School will have an e-Learning day Friday.

Some students there were planning a walkout Friday to protest over safety and security concerns.

They say It's because there was no lockdown earlier this week after a student with an alleged gun was found in the school.

The district then made the call to go remote after a threat on social media.

Law enforcement investigated the threat and determined it was unfounded.

Elmwood Park High School authorities released the following statement:

We received a report of a potential threat that would occur at 10am today at Elmwood Park High School. Out of an abundance of caution we moved to an e-learning day. Law enforcement completed their investigation and the threat was unfounded. 

District 401 Administrators, Elmwood Park Police Department, River Grove Police Department had a debriefing of the serious incident that occurred on Monday, March 6, 2023. All in attendance concluded that the actions taken on Monday mitigated the threat within the school. Moving forward we will continue to review protocols and training in partnership to enhance safety within the school.
