Meet Scarlett, the first baby of 2025 born at a Chicago hospital
CHICAGO - Chicago's first baby of the New Year was born this morning at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.
The hospital reported that baby Scarlett Carmela Sartori was born at 12:12 a.m. to a Chicago couple, Sophia and Joshua Satori. Scarlett weighs 6 pounds and 15 ounces and is 19.75 inches long.
She was born mere minutes into the New Year to the song "Mr. Jones" by Counting Crows.
Scarlett was due on Jan. 5 but induced on Dec. 30. It seemed this baby wanted to be born on New Year’s Day.
"All eyes were on the clock, just trying to figure out when she was going to come. So one of the nurses had her alarm set, so she announced [New Year's]. We all cheered. Well, I was still out of breath, probably, but we were all cheering and saying ‘Happy New Year.' Twelve minutes later it was her turn," Sophia Sartori said.
Scarlett wasn't the only New Year's baby born at Illinois Masonic.
Ethan Jovanni Maxinez was born at 12:56 a.m. at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital to Zara Amirova and Giovanni Maxinez, of Chicago's Dunning neighborhood. Ethan, who is the couple's first child, weighs 6 pounds, 9 ounces and was 19 inches long. He was the first baby born at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.
Baby Julia entered the world at 1:20 a.m. at Advocate Christ Medical Center to her mother and father, Shuroug and Mahmoud. The Hickory Hills family welcomed Julia, who weighed 6 pounds, 13 ounces and was 20 inches long. She was the first baby born at Advocate Christ Medical Center.
At UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Hinsdale, Baby Princess Anyiah Olivia Kolawole-Hawkins was born at 12:56 a.m. She weighed 6 pounds and 15 ounces and was 19 inches long. She is her parents' first daughter and has four older brothers.
