Geneva man charged with murder in fatal stabbings of woman, teen
KANE COUNTY - A Geneva man is facing murder charges after police say he fatally stabbed a woman and a teenager in a domestic violence incident last week.
Alejandro Cota has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder following the deaths of Christina L. Chavira, 47, and a 13-year-old identified as D.C.
The stabbings occurred around 8 p.m. on Dec. 26 at a home in the 2700 block of Emma’s Way. Responding officers found both victims with multiple stab wounds.
Chavira and D.C. were transported to area hospitals, where they were pronounced dead.
The Kane County coroner conducted an autopsy on Chavira and confirmed her cause of death as multiple stab wounds. Meanwhile, the Cook County coroner did the autopsy on D.C. and found she also died of multiple stab wounds, and ruled the death a homicide.
Cota was taken into custody at the scene and is being held at the Kane County Jail. He's due back in court on Jan. 9.
