Girl, 7, in serious condition after vehicle strikes her on Chicago's Far South Side, driver flees the scene

A 7-year-old girl was struck by a car outside of Carver Elementary School in Riverdale Friday afternoon.

The incident occurred in the 900 block of East 133rd Place.

At about 3:08 p.m., the 7-year-old was in the street when she was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound, police said.

The girl suffered injuries to both of her legs and her right arm.

The offending vehicle fled the scene, police said.

The victim was transported to the hospital in serious condition.
