Gondolas installed on new Navy Pier ferris wheel

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - We have your first look at the new Navy Pier Ferris wheel, complete with its gondolas in place.

Crews started hanging the gondolas Monday, the final phase of construction on the giant wheel.

There are 42 gondolas in all. Each of them will be climate controlled so that the Ferris wheel can run year round.
The gondolas also have video screens and high tech safety glass.

Once the installation is complete, we'll see the wheel move for the very first time.  Engineers will start their tests before the Ferris wheel opens this spring.
