Heart of Chicago shootout leaves 1 dead, 2 wounded

A man was killed and two others were wounded in a shootout Monday morning in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood.

Two 32-year-old men were arguing with a 25-year-old when they started exchanging gunfire around 1:30 a.m. on the sidewalk in the 2000 block of South Paulina Street, according to police.

The 25-year-old was shot several times and was pronounced dead at the scene. He has not yet been identified by the Cook County medical examiner's office.

One of the 32-year-olds was shot multiple times throughout the body. The other was shot once in the left arm. Police said paramedics took both victims to Stroger Hospital where they were listed in critical and good condition, respectively.

No arrests have been made. Area Three detectives are investigating.
