1 person hospitalized after school bus crashes on I-290 in Chicago suburbs

ITASCA, Ill. - A bus carrying students and adult administrators crashed on Interstate 290 near west suburban Itasca late Monday morning, leaving one adult injured, authorities said.

Illinois State Police (ISP) responded to the scene on I-290 at I-390 in Cook County around 11:26 a.m. Troopers said the crash involved a bus contracted by the Mount Prospect Park District and a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The bus was carrying 51 students and seven adult administrators, according to police.

The crash occurred amid slick road conditions caused by snow and freezing drizzle that affected commutes across the Chicago area.
