Illinois bill bans police from lying during questioning
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - Illinois becomes the first state to pass a bill to ban police from lying or tricking juveniles during questioning.
Gov. J.B. Pritzker is expected to sign the bill in the next few weeks.
This has been a common police tactic across the country.
Minors are considered especially vulnerable, and have a much higher rate of confessions to crimes they did not commit.
