Joliet area street gang arrested on drug, weapons charges
JOLIET, Ill. (AP) — Authorities outside Chicago have announced the arrests of several gang members on drug and weapons charges, including one who is a suspect in the 2010 shooting death of a Joliet woman.
In a news release, the Will County State's Attorney's office says the arrests on Wednesday came as a result of an investigation involving federal and local law enforcement agencies that focused on the Latin Kings street gang. Some of the 19 people arrested face state charges and the others face federal charges.
The most serious charge stemmed from the death of Natalie Rodriguez, who was shot to death while sitting in a car with her 8-year-old daughter on February 23, 2010.
Twenty-five-year-old Aaron Bowers of Joliet is charged with first-degree murder and his bond was set at $2.5 million.
