Juvenile accused of shooting 18-year-old during cannabis sale in Fox Lake
LAKE COUNTY, Ill. - A juvenile has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery that left an 18-year-old man injured in Fox Lake earlier this month.
The incident occurred on Dec. 5 at about 6:58 p.m. in the 100 block of Devlin Road. According to police, the 18-year-old victim from Round Lake was selling cannabis and THC vapes to the juvenile when the boy allegedly pulled out a gun in an attempt to steal the items and money.
During the confrontation, police said the juvenile fired a single shot, striking the victim in the shoulder before fleeing the scene.
The juvenile was arrested on Dec. 9 and the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved multiple charges, including:
- Aggravated Battery with Use of a Firearm, a Class X felony
- Armed Robbery with Discharge of a Firearm, a Class X felony
- Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, a Class 4 felony
The juvenile appeared in court on Dec. 10, where a petition to keep him detained was granted. He is being held at the Depke Juvenile Detention Center and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Dec. 18.
