2 women shot in Chicago’s north suburbs, suspects in custody after chase
LAKE CO., Ill. - Two women were shot and injured while driving in north suburban Lake County which led to multiple police chases of the suspected shooters early Sunday morning.
Lake County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the area of Green Bay Road and Bonnie Brook Lane in Beach Park around 2 a.m. for a report of a car crash and shooting, police said. Deputies found a car in a ditch with extensive damage and two women inside who were shot.
One woman was shot in the eye, and the other was shot in her leg. A deputy applied a tourniquet to the woman’s leg. Both women were taken to a local hospital and were expected to survive.

Deputies issued a regional broadcast with information about the suspect car. About 30 minutes later, a Waukegan police officer spotted a gray Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat matching the description of the suspect car.
Officers tried to stop the car on Sunset Avenue, but the driver sped away and evaded police.

But then, a Zion police officer used a tire deflation device, which the suspect car hit. Despite that, the suspect car again evaded police before crashing into a heavily wooded area near Route 173 and Joana Avenue in Zion.
Police found the suspect car and arrested two people, a man and a boy, in the area. A rifle and pistol were found in the Dodge and another pistol was found in a backyard near where one of the suspects was captured.
Police believe the Dodge was stolen from Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, but an investigation into that matter is ongoing.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident. Police had not yet presented charges to the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office as of Sunday morning.
