Chicago-area drug bust nets stash of heroin, cocaine, meth

A Lake County man was charged with drug trafficking after an investigation uncovered a stash of heroin, cocaine, meth and mushrooms at his home.

What we know:

The Lake County Sheriff's Office launched an undercover investigation into 43-year-old Anthony Love after learning he was reportedly selling narcotics. 

On Tuesday, members of the Special Investigations Group (SIG), conducted a search warrant at Love's home in the 2300 block of Elim Avenue in Zion.

Detectives seized an AK-47 Draco pistol along with several hundred grams of narcotics.

Love was charged with four counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

Police seized the following drugs while executing the search warrant at Love's home:

  • Over 420 grams of heroin
  • Over 110 grams of cocaine
  • 70 grams of methamphetamine
  • Over 40 grams of oxycodone
  • Psilocybin mushrooms

Lake County Sheriff John D. Idleburg commended the work of the investigators in a statement.

"Once again, our Special Investigations Group—comprised of sheriff’s detectives, federal agents, and local law enforcement—has successfully arrested a dangerous individual selling drugs in our community," Idleburg said. "I am proud of SIG for their hard work and dedication, which resulted in removing dangerous drugs and a firearm from our streets."
