Man critically injured after being ejected in McHenry County crash: officials

A man is hospitalized with critical injuries after being ejected from a pickup truck during a crash Friday evening in McHenry County.

The crash occurred just before 6 p.m. in the 9500 block of Route 14 in unincorporated Harvard.

First responders found the pickup truck with heavy damage, overturned on its side. Debris was scattered across the front yard of a home, according to the Harvard Fire Protection District.

The man, who was ejected from the truck, was found outside the vehicle. Paramedics performed lifesaving measures, but a medical helicopter was unable to safely land due to rain and heavy fog.

The critically injured man was transported by ambulance to Javon Bea Hospital—Riverside in Rockford.

The crash caused a temporary closure of Route 14 in both directions.

No other injuries were reported, and the cause of the crash is under investigation.
