Man dead after drive-by shooting in Country Club Hills
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - Two people in south suburban Country Club Hills were hit by a barrage of bullets Tuesday night.
“It was like a blast of I don't know, 10, 12, 13 shots,” said neighbor Tom Meegan.
The shooting happened just before 6 p.m. Witnesses told authorities a silver Nissan Altima or Maxima with tinted windows drove down Baker Street, slowed down and then people opened fire from the car and then sped off.
According to one witness, a man sitting outside on a home porch was shot in the head. The medical examiner identified him only as a 41-year-old African-American man. He was pronounced dead at a south suburban hospital. His identity has not been released pending notification of the family.
The other victim was inside the home at the time and was struck in the lower extremities and transported to Christ Hospital.
There were so many bullet casings scattered along the side of the road that police had to use a metal detector to try to find them all.
Neighbors said they were not surprised that something like this happened at the home because they had complained to police about problems there in what they suspected may have been criminal activity for several years.
“What goes on over there is a lot of things that shouldn't be going on over there. Traffic in and out of there day and night, seven days a week congregate things, there's tons of people there all the time,” Meegan said.
FOX 32: Police do anything about it?
“Call the police many times on the people there…they come out, then you don't see him, and then that's it,” Meegan added.
