Man dies after three-vehicle crash on Chicago’s South Side

A 30-year-old man has died after his car collided with two other vehicles Friday on Chicago’s South Side, authorities said.

What we know:

The crash happened at 5:12 p.m. in the 7600 block of South Parnell Avenue.

A Buick sedan was heading east, attempting to pass vehicles in oncoming traffic lanes when it struck a black Kia sedan traveling west, according to Chicago police.

The impact caused the Buick to spin out and hit a gray Mitsubishi SUV.

Crash Injuries:

Police said the driver of the Buick, a 30-year-old man, suffered multiple injuries and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead.

The driver and sole occupant of the Kia, a 26-year-old man, refused medical treatment.

The driver and sole occupant of the Mitsubishi, a 45-year-old man, was uninjured.

Authorities are investigating the crash.
