Man killed in rollover crash in Gurnee identified by coroner

GURNEE, Ill. - A man was killed in a rollover crash in Gurnee Friday afternoon. 

The Illinois State Police, along with fire departments from Gurnee and Libertyville, responded to the crash on Interstate 94 near Route 21 around 2:30 p.m.

Troopers found a two-vehicle crash involving a gray Dodge Ram and a semi-truck. Preliminary reports indicate the Dodge, driven by 75-year-old Eric Kott, of Oak Creek, changed lanes and struck the side of the semi-truck's trailer.

The Dodge left the roadway, traveled up an embankment, and rolled over, partially ejecting Kott. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Lake County Coroner confirmed Kott died from blunt force head injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
