Homicide investigation launched after man shot to death in Mundelein parking lot

MUNDELEIN, Ill. - A suburban man was shot and killed in a parking lot Monday evening in Mundelein.

Police responded to a report of shots fired around 7:10 p.m. in the 700 block of South Lake Street.

Upon arrival, Mundelein police learned someone took the victim to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville where he later died from his injuries, officials said.

The victim, a 21-year-old from Wheeling, was identified by the Lake County Coroner's Office as Luis Moreno.

The Lake County Major Crime Task Force and Mundelein police detectives have launched a homicide investigation.
