Nicor Gas customers could face $7.50 monthly increase in energy bills

Nicor Gas customers could see a nine percent hike on their energy bills.

The state’s largest natural gas utility and provider for much of the suburbs is asking Illinois officials to approve a $309 million rate increase.

The company says the hike is needed for critical infrastructure investments.

The Illinois Commerce Commission now has 11 months to review the request.

If approved, a typical customer’s bill will go up about $7.50 a month.
