Man arrested in Oak Lawn shooting that left one wounded, teens’ car struck in McDonald’s drive-thru

A person was wounded by gunfire in Oak Lawn Wednesday night following a shooting that occurred near 105th and Cicero Avenue.

At about 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 7, an Oak Lawn police sergeant reported hearing gunshots in the area.

Officers arrived on the scene to find two people inside a vehicle that had been struck multiple times by bullets.

The driver suffered minor injuries from a graze wound and shattered glass.

A black tow truck was identified as the vehicle responsible for the shooting, but it fled the area before authorities could respond.

Shortly after, police learned that a separate vehicle filled with teens had been struck by gunfire while in the drive-thru lane at a McDonald's. Fortunately, no one in the vehicle was injured.

Adeeb Bawadi

Authorities later determined that the intended target of the shooting had a connection to the suspected shooter, Adeeb Bawadi, a 23-year-old parolee with a felony record.

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office has approved one felony charge of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm against Bawadi. He was scheduled to appear in court Thursday morning.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
