Aurora man learns sentence for providing fentanyl that led to woman’s death
OSWEGO, Ill. - A 37-year-old Aurora man was sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to drug-induced homicide, authorities said.
Marcos Salas entered the guilty plea in October.
The case began in July 2021 when Kendall County sheriff's deputies responded to a home in the Boulder Hill subdivision in Oswego for a report of a woman who had died unexpectedly. An investigation determined the woman’s death was caused, in part, by fentanyl intoxication.
Detectives uncovered messages between Salas and the victim, as well as between Salas and other individuals. The correspondence included admissions that Salas provided the victim with illegal narcotics containing fentanyl, along with details about the cost of the drugs.
Salas must serve 75% of his sentence and will also serve 18 months of mandatory supervised release following his prison term.
