Park Forest double homicide suspect Coleman Franklin arrested
PARK FOREST, Ill. - A man wanted in the fatal shootings of two women in Park Forest last week has been taken into custody, authorities said.
Coleman Franklin faces two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Lillian Brown, 51, and Sabrina McCain, 30, who were killed on Dec. 26.
Police said the incident occurred at a home in the 300 block of Miami Street. Officers found the two women after responding to reports of a gunshot victim.
Brown was pronounced dead at the scene, while McCain died later at the hospital. Two children in the home were unharmed and taken to hospitals as a precaution.
Authorities said the incident was not random and that Franklin knew the victims.
"The Park Forest Police Department and the Village of Park Forest extend their deepest condolences to the family and friends of Lillian Brown and Sabrina McCain as we work to seek justice for them," Park Forest PD said in a statement.
No further details about Franklin’s arrest were immediately available.
