PAWS Chicago seeks homes for 200 pets during annual holiday adoption event

Beginning Friday, Chicago's largest no-kill animal shelter will kick off its annual Holiday Adopt-A-Thon.

During the week-long event, PAWS Chicago in Lincoln Park will attempt to match 200 dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens with forever homes just in time for the holidays.

"As the number of abandoned and homeless pets continues to rise, the need for adoption is critical," said Paula Fasseas, PAWS Chicago Founder & Executive Chair. "By coming together as a community, we can give these deserving animals a second chance."

For those looking to adopt one of the available animals, PAWS Chicago recommends making an appointment, though walk-in guests will still be welcome. The humane society also asked that all family members be present during their visit.

Potential adopters will be able to meet all the available animals during their appointment, and ask staff and volunteers any questions they might have about the adoption process.

"When you adopt, you’re not only saving a life, but also making room to save even more pets in need. Adopting a pet during the holidays brings unconditional love and joy into your home, creating lasting memories for both you and your new companion," Fasseas said.

PAWS Chicago will be extending its hours for the adoption marathon, and all available animals can be viewed on the humane society's website before making an appointment.
