Plow truck critically injures Aldi employee in parking lot

An Aldi employee was struck and critically injured by a plow truck Tuesday morning in Merrillville, Indiana.

Around 8:13 a.m., Merrillville patrol officers were called to Aldi, located at 10 W. Lincoln Highway, for a report of a pedestrian-involved crash.

Upon arrival, officers saw a person who had been struck by a plow truck. Paramedics treated the victim at the scene and transported her to a local hospital where she was listed in critical condition, according to police.

In a statement, an Aldi spokesperson said, "We are deeply saddened to confirm that an employee was injured by a snowplow in the parking lot at 10 81st Ave in Merrillville, Indiana this morning. Our thoughts are with this individual and their family during this difficult time. There is nothing more important to us than the safety and well-being of our team members. Please direct future inquiries to the Merrillville Police Department. The store is closed temporarily while an investigation is ongoing, and we ask for privacy for all involved."
