Human remains found inside West Rogers Park home, medical examiner confirms
CHICAGO - Human remains were found inside a residence in West Rogers Park Monday morning.
At about 11:15 a.m., police say they located the remains inside a residence in the 2800 block of West Fitch Avenue.
Neighbors told FOX 32 that family members had entered a locked room looking for a relative who hadn’t been seen for some time. On Friday, 79-year-old Gerald Harris was found dead inside the home.
Neighbors Bobbie and Jerry Nussbaum said they believed Harris was the only one still living there at the time and were told that his brother had moved out 20 years ago. Throughout the day, detectives were seen speaking with relatives and folks who live nearby.
The block was described as quiet and close-knit, with many children. Police are still working to learn how long the human remains may have been inside.
"They were very secretive. They’re not the type to say what’s going on," said Jerry Nussbaum.
No additional information was released by police. Area Detectives are investigating.
