Private contractor critically injured after falling into manhole in northwest Indiana

Worker rescued from manhole

A private contractor fell while entering a manhole at Festival Park and is now in critical condition.

HOBART, Ind. - A private contractor fell while entering a manhole in Hobart, Indiana Monday morning.

According to the Hobart Fire Department, the contractor was entering a manhole to do some work at Festival Park when he fell.

He was flown out by UCAN to a Chicago trauma center in critical condition.

No additional information was provided by the fire department.
