Officers conducted a welfare check at Duran’s home, finding it in disarray but unoccupied. Police contacted dispatch and entered Duran and her vehicle, a black Chevy Traverse, into the system as a missing and endangered person, authorities said.

On Dec. 27, police spoke with Duran’s sister and returned to her home to search but were unable to locate her or anyone else.

East Chicago officers later entered the vehicle’s information into their Avigilon citywide camera system, which did not detect the vehicle’s temporary license plate within the city, officials said.

Duran’s case has been forwarded to Munster police for further investigation.

Authorities have not released additional details. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Munster Police Department or call 911.
