Snow and cold disrupt flights nationwide, forcing travelers to adapt at O’Hare Airport
CHICAGO - Tired travelers moved through O’Hare International Airport on Tuesday, trying to complete their holiday travel.
Winter weather this week made for longer trips and, for some, an unexpected stay in Chicago.
Passengers on Tuesday made another run at getting to their destinations.
Chicago has the cold but other cities have snow, lots of it, shutting down runways across the country, which caused thousands of flight delays and cancelations.
Some travelers are still trying to go on to another city, grabbing available flights, and that means the chance of separating from their luggage.
Rows and rows of suitcases were stored at O'Hare Airport's baggage claim, locked and secured until they could be returned to the customer.
Lisa, on her way from Akron to Palm Springs, opted to overnight in Chicago, rather than stay put at home and lose another day of travel.
James Rapp and his family got home to Chicago from Honolulu, without their luggage. He said there are worse things than being stuck in Hawaii.
This is also the time of year when locals are seeking warmer climates. The weather is motivating them to get away from winter while they can.
