Woman dies, 2 kids ejected in South Deering crash
CHICAGO - A woman died and two children were critically hurt after their car crashed into a pole Monday morning in the South Deering neighborhood.
The woman, whose age was unknown, was driving an SUV around 2:40 a.m. when she struck a pole in the 3000 block of East 106th Street, according to police. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The Cook County medical examiner's office has not released her identity.
A 5-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy were ejected from the vehicle during the crash. They were initially taken to a hospital in Indiana but were later transported to Comer Children's Hospital where they were listed in critical condition, police said.
There were no other reported injuries.
CPD's Major Accidents unit is investigating.
