Firefighters rescue residents from blaze at South Shore apartment
CHICAGO - Residents were rescued from a two-alarm fire that broke out at a South Shore apartment on Wednesday morning.
The fire started around midnight on the fifth floor of an apartment complex at 7465 S. South Shore Dr., according to the Chicago Fire Department.
Chicago firefighters rescued people from the building as it was burning, escorting them down ladders to safety. The fire was under control around 12:40 a.m., according to officials.
Several people were transported to local hospitals but it was not immediately clear how many people were injured.
