Armed robbery on Chicago’s South Side leaves suspect shot, injured

A group of armed robbers took money from a business on Chicago’s South Side Saturday morning, but not before one of the robbers was shot and wounded.

A 29-year-old man was working at the business in the 100 block of West 87th Street around 9 a.m. when the three unknown offenders entered, police said. The offenders displayed guns and demanded property.

They took an unknown amount of money and fled through a back door.

One of the robbers, a 27-year-old man, was shot in his right leg and arrested by responding officers. Police also recovered a weapon.

It was unclear exactly what led to the shooting.

The two other offenders fled in an unknown direction.

The victim was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition.

Area detectives are investigating the incident.
