Popular suburban drive-thru to close its doors for good
VILLA PARK, Ill. - It’s the end of an era for a beloved suburban institution.
Strat’s Drive-Thru, a staple in the Villa Park community for nearly 39 years, has announced it will permanently close its doors.
"We're profoundly grateful for the loyalty and support of our patrons and the memories that inspired us.," the Strat’s owner shared in a post on Facebook. "Many patrons became friends that are like family to us."
The decision to close was prompted by what the owner described as an "unrefusable" offer from a national tire company.
While bittersweet, the closure marks the start of a new chapter for the owner, who hinted at plans to relocate "way south" in search of warmer weather.
"It’s time to move on," he said, reflecting on the journey. "All I can say [is] it was a great journey. There was lots of laughter, lots of crying, lots of sweating and some bleeding over the 38.5 years."
As the closure nears, patrons are encouraged to share their favorite memories and photos of Strat’s, celebrating decades of joy, connection, and community.
