Explosion at Sycamore manufacturing plant leaves 2 seriously injured

Two people were seriously injured after an explosion at a paint manufacturing plant in Sycamore on Monday morning.

The explosion happened around 8:34 a.m. at Seymour of Sycamore Inc., located at 917 Crosby Ave. Sycamore Police Chief Jim Winters said two people suffered serious injuries in the explosion. Both victims have been hospitalized.

The Sycamore Fire Department is working to put out the blaze and the fire is "generally contained," police said.

Officials said there is no threat to neighboring areas.

The cause of the explosion is under investigation.

Sycamore is roughly 60 miles west of Chicago.
