Teens charged in pair of armed robberies at Loop stores

Two teens are facing charges in connection with a pair of armed robberies Thursday afternoon in the Loop.

The boys, 15 and 16, allegedly stole property at gunpoint from within a retail business in the first block of North State Street, according to Chicago police. A few minutes later, they stole from another business in the first block of East Randolph Street, police said.

The teens were arrested roughly a half hour later around 2:40 p.m. in the first block of West Jackson Boulevard and the 200 block of South State Street, respectively.

They were each charged with armed robber with a firearm and retail theft of greater than $300. The 15-year-old boy was also charged with possessing a lost credit/debit card and obstructing identification.

No further information was immediately available.
