WASHINGTON DC - President Donald Trump signed an executive order Monday establishing the first-ever Presidential Military Spouse Commission, appointing Jennifer Hegseth as chair to support military families across the nation.
"America cannot have the strongest military in the world without the love and devotion of our remarkable military spouses, who make the extraordinary sacrifices for our country," Trump said. "They really are extraordinary. Many military spouses spend months separated from their loved ones while our heroes are deployed overseas. Military families also endure frequent moves and other unique challenges, and the challenges are legendary."
The order directs the commission to identify challenges facing military families, including housing, employment, health care, education, child care and deployment support, and make annual recommendations to the president to improve support for military spouses.
