The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) officially start car recalls after receiving complaints from consumers.
Volvo is recalling nearly 7,500 plug-in hybrid vehicles in the U.S. over a high-voltage battery issue that may cause it to short circuit, increasing the risk of a fire.
A recall report dated March 20 and submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration warns drivers to not charge their vehicles until a fix has been completed.

What we know:
Volvo Car USA is recalling certain 2020-2021 S90, 2020-2022 S60, V60, XC60, XC90, and 2022 V90 plug-in hybrid vehicles. "The high-voltage battery may experience a short circuit within the battery module when the battery is fully charged and the vehicle is parked," a recall notice warns.
By the numbers:
A total of 7,483 vehicles have been recalled as part of the issue.

In the recall notice, the NHTSA states that owners are advised "not to charge their vehicles until the remedy has been completed." Dealers will inspect and replace the high-voltage battery module as necessary, as well as update the software to monitor the battery – all free of charge.
