21-year-old woman shot by someone she knew in stairwell of Chicago apartment building

CHICAGO - A 21-year-old woman was shot late Wednesday in the stairwell of a South Side apartment building, police said.

The shooting occurred around 11:40 p.m. in the 0-100 block of East Garfield Boulevard. Police said the woman was shot by someone she knew.

She was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center with a gunshot wound to her left leg and was listed in good condition.

No suspects are in custody, and Area One detectives are investigating.
