Waukegan shooting victim identified

LAKE COUNTY, Ill. - A person killed in a shooting in Waukegan earlier this week has been identified as a Zion man.

Around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Waukegan police responded to the area of South Park Avenue and Water Street for a report of a shooting.

At the scene, a 19-year-old man was found and transported to Vista Medical Center East where he was pronounced dead in the emergency room.

The coroner identified the man as Christopher Tapia of Zion. An autopsy indicated that Tapia died from a gunshot wound.

Waukegan police continue to investigate the shooting.
