Woman killed by Metra train in Cary; UP-NW service resumes
Cary, Ill. - Metra trains on the Union Pacific-Northwest line are moving again after a woman was hit by a train near northwest suburban Cary.
The pedestrian was struck about 7 a.m. by outbound train No. 603 near Main Street and Northwest Highway in Cary, according to a Metra spokesman and Cary police. She died from her injuries.
The McHenry County coroner's office has not released details about the death.
Train movement was halted in both directions north of the Barrington station, but both tracks were cleared by about 9:15 a.m., Metra officials said. Normal service has resumed with residual delays.
