Crest Hill woman tried to set Wilmington apartment building on fire, police say

A southwest suburban woman was charged with allegedly attempting to set an apartment building on fire over the weekend.

Wilmington police were called to a disturbance at 132 South First Street and found a male subject trying to put out an active fire in the building’s crawl space, police said.

All residents of the building were safely evacuated and no injuries were reported.
