Yuengling beer now available in Illinois for the first time

Yuengling, America’s oldest brewery, has finally made its way to Illinois.

Though the Pennsylvania-based brewery has been in operation since 1829, its beers had not been available in the state until now.

What we know:

The company first announced in December that it would be expanding distribution, and as of this week, Illinois bars and restaurants are now serving Yuengling Lager and Flight by Yuengling, a low-carb, low-calorie light beer.

To mark the occasion, Village Tap, a bar on West Roscoe Street in Chicago, hosted a launch event, offering free samples to patrons eager to try the long-awaited brews.

What they're saying:

Yuengling’s general manager was excited to celebrate the milestone, stating:

"We just launched with two of our brands on draft yesterday, in bars and restaurants throughout the city and throughout the state. Our Yuengling lager brand which is an amber lager, a great medium-bodied, easy-to-drink beer, and a brand called Flight by Yuengling, which is our low-carb, low-calorie light beer."

What's next:

Illinois beer lovers will have even more options soon.

Yuengling has confirmed that three more of its beer varieties will hit store shelves in March.
