Chicago Bears vs. Detroit Lions: Live scores and updates from Week 16

The Chicago Bears get some classic Chicago December weather on Sunday.

With temperatures in the teens as the sun rose over Solider Field, the Bears will welcome Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions for an NFC North match up.

Chicago Bears keys to the game

1. Find ways to protect Caleb Williams

Caleb Williams has been sacked more times in 2024 than any other quarterback in Chicago Bears history. The Bears need to find ways to protect Williams. If it's with an extra tight end, max protection or some other third option, letting Williams get comfortable is a way to win.

2. Find defensive momentum early

The Bears' defense has gone into halftime allowing 37 combined points in the last two games. Finding ways to limit points has to be the focus, be it by turnovers or by getting off the field.

3. Get Cole Kmet involved

The Chicago Bears are 3-1 when Cole Kmet records double-digit yards per reception on a minimum of three receptions in a game. Forcing the second level of the defense to respect Kmet will open up opportunities for DJ Moore, Keenan Allen and Rome Odunze.

Remember when…

The Bears last won a road game on Nov. 27, 2023, when the Bears beat the Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night Football. That, however, was last year. The Vikings started Joshua Dobbs and scored just 10 points. The Bears had Justin Fields as a starting quarterback. The Bears also intercepted Dobbs four times in the win.
