Former WNBA Champ and veteran PG Courtney Vandersloot to return to the Chicago Sky
Sloot is back in Chicago.
The Chicago Sky are expected to sign veteran point guard, former Chicago Sky guard and two-time WNBA champion Courtney Vandersloot, her agent confirmed to FOX 32.
The Chicago Sun-Times first reported the news.
Vandersloot also changed her Instagram bio to say "Chicago Sky."
Vandersloot was the No. 3 overall pick by the Chicago Sky out of Gonzaga in the 2011 WNBA Draft. She played with the Sky for 12 seasons, winning a title with the Sky in the 2021 season where her turnaround jumper sealed the win in Game 4.
Vandersloot is a five-time WNBA All-Star, a seven-time WNBA assist champion and a five-time All-WNBA player.
In her 12 seasons with the Sky, Vandersloot averaged 10.2 points per game and 6.6 assists per game.
After spending over a decade with the Sky, Vandersloot spent the last two seasons in New York with the Liberty. She helped New York win its elusive WNBA title in a thrilling five-game series over the Minnesota Lynx in the 2024 WNBA Finals.
Now, Vandersloot will rejoin a Sky team that was looking for a veteran point guard presence. Chicago had Dana Evans and Lindsay Allen running point last season.
Allen signed a two-year deal with the Sky. Evans was a candidate to be traded last season.
Providing first-year head coach Tyler Marsh with a veteran point guard presence in a young Sky locker room will be a boon for a team that's vying for playoff contention this season, even though they're in the middle of a massive tear down.
